Time Schedule
The speakers of ISCO 2015
Phil Cavell
Cyclefit Instructor, Cyclefit, UK
We are delighted to announce that Phil Cavell will give the keynote speech of the 2nd ISCO in Münster.
Phil is inseparably linked to the development of European bike fitting. He is one of the founders of the first European fitting studios “Cyclefit UK,” the leading institute introducing complex solution strategies in professional bike fitting in England. Phil also hosts the international Cyclefit Symposium in London, which takes turns with ISCO in convening the bikefitting scene. Keeping with his philosophy that bike fitting should not develop into an arms race of measurement technique but rather the fitter’s abilities and empathy should be central, Phil will get us in the mood for two intense days of exchanging experience, looking ahead and constructive cooperation.
Andy Froncioni
Aerodynamic Specialist, Alphamantis, CA
Andy Froncioni is Ph.D. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, and is lead aerodynamicist for Alphamantis Technologies in Montreal. Alphamantis is a leader in cycling aerodynamics with 12 aero test centers worldwide. Alphamantis aero customers include Cofidis, Team SKY, Team Francaise des Jeux, BORA-Argon18, as well as several elite national federations. The company has provided telemetry equipment for the Jens Voigt, Thomas Dekker, and Sarah Storey Hour Record attempts. Andy has been an aerodynamics consultant for Cycling Canada, USA Cycling, Cycling Australia, and the French Cycling Federation since 2011. His expertise includes bike position optimisation, and cycling performance analysis for solo and team efforts.
Dennis Sandig
Sports Scientist, IQ Athletik, DE
There is probably no German cycling-magazine that has not featured an article by Dennis Sandig. His expertise as cycling coach is as much in demand as his knowledge on movement analysis of cyclists. Of course, he also has the “good eye” that is essential for movement analysts. Dennis is one of the co-founders of both iQ Athletik GmbH and the training platform atleta.de. We first got to know Dennis ten years ago, when he worked as directeur sportif for the pro-team “Equipe Nürnberger” for whom we were conducting biomechanical analyses. We are very pleased that Dennis will share his knowledge on “functional movement patterns in bike fitting” with us.
Dr Borut Fonda
Sports Scientist, Science 2 Practice, SI
Dr Fonda holds an undergrad degree in sports training and a master degree in kinesiology. He obtained his PhD at the University of Birmingham, in the UK. He is a former semi-professional cyclists and is known to successfully translate scientific knowledge into an applied setting and vice versa. After his undergrad degree he started working with several cyclists in the field of training, biomechanics and recovery.
He upgraded his knowledge during his master study at the University of Primorska and his doctoral study at the University of Birmingham, where he focused on motor control and biomechanics of cycling. Some of his research in the field of cycling biomechanics became a standard for thousands of bike fitting experts worldwide. He received numerous scientific awards for exceptional scientific achievements and is an author of two patents and over 50 scientific publications.
Sebastian Weber
Sports Scientist, Team Cannondale – Garmin, DE
Since 2002 the sport scientist Sebastian Weber has been working as coach in professional cycling and triathlon. Apart from supporting numerous teams such as t-mobile, HTC Highroad, Katusha and Cannondate-Garmin, he has also coached many individual athletes to top performances, exemplified by the successes of Tony Martin in time trials and Andrè Greipel in several sprinting stages. At the German Sports University he developed the STAPS-method and subsequently founded the STAPS institute, to which he continues to provide advice.
The focus of Sebastian’s work is on metabolic simulation and performance analysis, aerodynamic optimization of cyclists and triathletes as well as the creation of pacing strategies. As we already have successfully cooperated with Sebastian on several projects, we are very happy to welcome him to ISCO 2015!
Paraic McGlynn
Cycling Analysis Instructor, Cyclologic, US
Paraic McGlynn, a native of Ireland, has been coaching and working with elite athletes in Europe and the US since the early nineties. A former Cat 1 cycling racing career transitioned into coaching and sports biomechanics, sports science and sports performance analysis.
Paraic has a passion for technology and education – influenced by working for Intel’s training department in Ireland and the United States — and has a Graduate Qualification in Corporate Training and Development. In 2000, Paraic relocated to the US. He worked to develop many commonly used kinematic assessment methodologies and tools, sports orthotic research, and has developed motion analysis methodologies. Prior to founding Cyclologic, Paraic was instrumental in technology development at FASTER, the world’s first Cycling Specific Wind tunnel and retail center and ran Serotta’s Fit School.
Paraic is the lead Trek Precision Fit instructor for North America. Cyclologic supplies technology to the global Precision Fit program and consulting services for Trek Bicycles. Paraic is a bike fitter and performance analyst for Trek Factory Racing.
Dr. Mark Timmerman
Medical Advisor, Trek Bicycles, US
Dr. Timmerman is a Family Medicine and Sports Medicine Physician in Wisconsin, USA. As a Sports Medicine doctor, he works with many high school and college athletes, as well as endurance enthusiasts such as bicyclists, triathletes, and marathon runners. In addition, he teaches Medical Students and Residents as an Associate Professor for Sports Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School.
Dr. Timmerman also serves as the Medical Advisor for Trek Bicycle Corporation. In this role, he has been involved in research and development of products such as saddles, gloves, and shoes. He also has been an integral part of the Trek Precision Fit Program from its inception almost a decade ago. As the Lead Medical Instructor, he teaches the medical aspects of bike fitting, including anatomy, biomechanics, and injury prevention related to bike fitting.
An endurance athlete himself, Dr. Timmerman has finished 10 marathons, four Ironman triathlons, and seven L’Etape du Tour bicycle races.
