Ironwoman Anne Haug rides on gebioMized

On the road to Kona: After her third place at the Ironman World Championship 2018 in Kona, Anne Haug wants to cause a stir again this year – and relies on the new gebioMized triathlon saddle. First acid test: Ironman Copenhagen.

Powered by gebioMized: For many years bike fitter Jürgen Schulz with his ergonomics laboratory MyPosition! Bikefitting has made sure that professional triathlete Anne Haug sits perfectly on the bike – also with the support of gebioMized technology such as dynamic pressure mapping on the saddle or inside the cycling shoe. But a good position on a triathlon bike only really pays off if the athlete can hold it for a long time – especially on the Ironman distance.

This was something in which Anne Haug who switched to long distance triathlon only one season ago and bike fitter Jürgen Schulz saw a lot of potential for improvement. “Especially with my pre-damaged hip, I always had extreme problems sitting well on a time trial bike”, Anne Haug describes the initial situation. In order to solve this problem, one of the most successful German triathletes relies on a brand-new saddle: the gebioMized Stride S. “We made the saddle especially for the requirements of the aerodynamic position in triathlon,” explains Mathias Brandner, saddle developer and data analyst at gebioMized. “This design allows Anne Haug to assume two different pelvic positions. This gives her great advantages on the 180-kilometer long bike course of an Ironman race.

“The saddle helps me to keep my aero position longer. My hip is quite stable. This allows me to transfer all the power I invest to the pedal. That means both performance and comfort gains.”

A statement that the athlete clearly confirms after the first training rides: “The saddle helps me to keep my aero position longer. My hip is quite stable. This allows me to transfer all the power I invest to the pedal. That means both performance and comfort gains.”

Anne Haug will ride her new saddle under real-time race conditions on August 18: at Ironman Copenhagen she wants to qualify on the gebioMized’s Stride S for the Ironman World Championship on Hawaii.

More details about the new gebioMized Stride will be available in September when the saddle is officially introduced.
